LA Clippers: Team finally gets Classic Team in NBA 2k20
The LA Clippers finally get a Classic Team in NBA 2k20 this year with the inclusion of the Lob City squad from the 2013-14 season.
The LA Clippers finally have a Classic Team in NBA 2k20. After years of begging, including myself just last season, 2k came through. This year, fans will be able to relive the Lob City era with the 2013-14 Clippers.
This will surely give fans a trip down memory lane and will offer a great juxtaposition with the current roster.
While Lob City just ended a few years ago, the changes the team has undergone since then are massive. May young fans joined Clipper Nation due to this group and the duo of Blake Griffin and Chris Paul changed the outlook of the entire franchise. If it weren’t for them, the team would not have the clout it does now to go out and sign big name players.
Other players on the roster that 2k players will get to use include DeAndre Jordan, J.J. Redick, Jamal Crawford, Matt Barnes, Glen Davis, Jared Dudley, Antawn Jamison and Danny Granger.
The 2013-14 Clippers finished 57-25, winning the Pacific Division. The team then went on to beat the Golden State Warriors in the first round 4-3 while the whole Donald Sterling fiasco loomed over them. They would go on to lose 4-2 in the second round to Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Blake Griffin had the best year of his career in 2013-14, finishing third in MVP voting. Griffin averaged 24.1 points per game, 9.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.6 blocks. He shot 52.8% from the field. He had not added a consistent three-point shot at this point in his career, which makes the numbers a bit more impressive.
No, Lob City never resulted in the championship we all wanted and the group did not depart on the best of terms. Still, the group was one of the highest points in franchise history and it’s great to see the NBA 2k20 will finally recognize them. Oh, and I can’t wait to hear how they stack up against the current Clippers’ team on 2k.
