JaMychal Green: Give Lou, Trezz relief

When we look back at this season over the summer, the acquisition of JaMychal Green is going to stand out as one of the best things this team achieved all year.

A 6-9 power forward with immeasurable amounts of grit and a three-point shot, Green was made for the modern era of NBA basketball. And alongside other bench stars, he’s getting the opportunity to flourish with the LA Clippers.

Since coming over to the Clippers as part of the Avery Bradley trade, Green has averaged 8.7 points and 6.5 rebounds in just under 20 minutes per game. More importantly, he’s another Clipper that’s shooting over 40 percent from three-point range — and he’s doing it on 3.3 attempts per game.

One of the best things about Green’s role with the Clippers is the gravity he creates. Because of his ability in the paint and beyond the arc, opposing players have to dedicate a lot of time to him, allowing guys like Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell to avoid double teams and do their own thing.

He should continue to play a big role for the Clippers in the playoffs, especially if they start to really let it fly from three-point range. And if not, he’ll still serve as a physical presence in the paint.
