Free Agency

RAPP: Let’s start speculating: How attractive do we think this roster looks to potential free agents?

CHONG: I think the core pieces that you’ll have long-term look very nice.

CULLEN: Extremely. Like I said, the young talent not only provides them with solid rotation pieces, but can extend a career.

SNELLINGS: Well, let’s look at it. We have a Sixth Man of the Year, a young stud in Harrell, two young shooters and a point guard of the future. It’s set up for a star to slide right in.

KIMBRELL: In solid agreement with Brian. We are a near-perfect team for a superstar to slide into. A bunch of young guys who can be elite level support players with some growth

CULLEN: Win now is great, but culture and development creates franchise juggernauts.

LOFTIN: Roster-wise I think we are in the middle of the pack. I think our calling card will be the front office, our assets and being in Los Angeles more so than our current roster.

CHONG: I also think that the front office has shown to prospective free agents that if they do join the Clippers, they can be trusted to fill out the roster with quality players.

CULLEN: OR YOU’RE GONE.

SNELLINGS: Stars also have to know that talent will follow. If a Kawhi or Durant joins, others will be willing to sign for less to help win a ring.

CHONG: I think that’s in play, for sure. Teaming up in Los Angeles to win a championship for a team that’s never even gotten to the conference finals? That sounds really appealing.

Replacing Avery Bradley

RAPP: From the box score: Garrett Temple, 19 minutes, Ivica Zubac, 23 minutes, JaMychal Green, 14 minutes, Landry Shamet, 26 minutes. Wilson Chandler is still recovering from injury, but that’s a lot of minutes from players who didn’t even get to practice before jumping in the game, with Temple and Zubac starting.

More from Clipperholics

CULLEN: Are there any “former Doc players” left on the team?

We should see ab (an) more even distribution of minutes with Doc’s guys all gone.

SNELLINGS: Your typo made me have PTSD from Avery Bradley, Brian.

CHONG: For real.

CULLEN: [Brian edits the above] I don’t know what typo you’re talking about. My statement looks immaculate.

CHONG: The young guards should all really benefit from AB being gone, though.

SNELLINGS: My sanity sure will.

CHONG: Preach.

RAPP: IT’S FINALLY OVER.

KIMBRELL: 30 extra minutes a game that our young guys can play

CULLEN: As crazy as Bradley drove me, I do feel bad for him. It’s not like dude WANTED to fall off a cliff. He clearly was struggling to find his old self again. And I truly do hope that he finds it.

Is Only One Star Enough?

LOFTIN: So, obviously the front office’s goal is to nab 2-3 superstars for next season. But, with the current roster, do you think we are contenders if we only get one?

SNELLINGS: It really depends, doesn’t it? If the Warriors actually break up, then sure. If another superteam forms, then it’s hard to compete against that. I think if you have a star and a deep bench like we could have, it’s very possible.

CULLEN: Contender? No. The West is too stacked. I think we could be a contender in 3 years with this team and one superstar. But the team is YOUNG. It will need some more experience.

KIMBRELL: I think that’ll depend on which superstar we get, and where the other one goes. If we get Kawhi and KD goes to New York without much more help, I think we land in that “one or two breaks and we could make a run” realm

CHONG: I think it would be really hard to compete for a championship with only one superstar. You could be a really, really good team, but in the playoffs, you need stars.
