The LA Clippers have waived Desi Rodriguez ahead of tonight’s matchup with the Denver Nuggets. Milos Teodosic will also be making his preseason debut.

According to Clippers PR, the LA Clippers have waived forward Desi Rodriguez, bringing their roster total down to 19. The team will need to make two more cuts before the regular season begins next week.

Rodriguez was a prime candidate to be waived before the season began, which is something we alluded to in an earlier post about potential preseason cuts. The 22-year-old forward from Seton Hall went undrafted in this year’s NBA Draft, and joined the Clippers’ Summer League team. There, he averaged 7.0 points and 3.2 rebounds across nearly 22 minutes per game.

To put it simply, there just wasn’t enough room for Rodriguez on LA’s roster. Fortunately, thanks to a rule implemented last year by the G-League, NBA teams can option up to four waived players to their corresponding G-League affiliates. If the Clippers do so, he’ll remain within the organization, meaning this may not be the last time we see him in an LA Clippers uniform.

We’ve also learned of some news involving Milos Teodosic. Per multiple reports, the 31-year-old Serbian guard will be making his preseason debut tonight against the Denver Nuggets.

Teodosic had been held out of every previous matchup due to a minor hamstring injury that he suffered in late September. His being out was precautionary, not wanting Teodosic to further injure himself. It seems that LA is finally comfortable with him returning to the court.

Teodosic was an productive piece during his rookie year in Los Angeles, averaging 9.5 points and 4.6 assists per game in 45 appearances. He also shot an efficient 38 percent from three-point range, a mark above what was expected of him when he came over to the NBA.

Finally, it’s been announced that Boban Marjanovic will be starting at center tonight for the LA Clippers. The seven-footer had his most productive outing last season against Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets, going for 18 points and six rebounds in just 15 minutes of play.

The LA Clippers will face off against the Denver Nuggets tonight at STAPLES Center at 7:30 PM PST. Fans can tune in to watch it on Fox Sports Prime Ticket and NBA TV.
