The LA Clippers will begin their regular season in just over a week, and the roster size is still above the threshold.

Steve Ballmer and Co. will have some difficult decisions to make come next week. With a roster loaded with an excess of players, the LA Clippers will have to part ways with at least three before next Wednesday’s regular season opener against the Denver Nuggets.

Under current NBA regulations, a roster can hold 15 regular players, as well as two additional two-way players. That lets us know that both of LA’s two-way players, Angel Delgado and Johnathan Motley, are safe.

That leaves five players that we believe could be cut before the team makes its regular season debut. This includes Jawun Evans, Wesley Johnson, Sindarius Thornwell, Tyrone Wallace, and Desi Rodriguez.

Three of these five players are guards, and it’s expected that most of them will be cut. The Clippers have a backcourt logjam as it stands, and the only way Jerome Robinson earns minutes this season is if there’s room above him. Right now, there’s none.

Before Jimmy Butler was favored to be traded to the Miami Heat, the hope was that the Clippers would be able to send a few of these players out in a deal. But now that it seems unlikely, Los Angeles is going to need to eat some money.
