The Los Angeles Clippers enter this preseason with one of the deepest rosters in the NBA. Let’s break it down starting with the point guards.
The Los Angeles Clippers never had quite enough depth during the Lob City era. They were forced to rely mainly on minimum contract players to fill out their roster every season.
However, their circumstances have changed drastically. Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan have all departed leaving the Clippers without a true superstar, but also leaving them with the most depth they have ever had.
In fact, the Clippers have too much depth. (Is that even possible?) They have at least 17 players who are capable of helping them win basketball games this season. Eventually someone will get cut in order to trim the roster down.
During the next couple of weeks, I will be analyzing each position group on the roster. Who is the starter? Is it a competition? Who is the backup? Who is on the bubble? I am going to go break it all down for you and let you know who has a chance to still be on the roster come the first game of the season.
So I am starting with arguably their most stacked position, point guard. This position could change a lot as the year goes on due to both injuries and possible trades. However, for now, it is the deepest position the team has and for good reason. Let’s get started.
