After the NBA Draft came to a close, the Clippers were quick to sign Seton Hall Center Angel Delgado to a two-way contract.

Seton Hall put up an impressive fight against the Kansas Jayhawks in the second round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Despite falling 79-83, no player was more important that night than Seton Hall big man, Angel Delgado. The 6-10, 245-pound center recorded 24 points, 23 rebounds, and 5 assists in a nail-biter against one of the nation’s top teams.

Delgado averaged 13.6 points and 11.8 rebounds per game during his senior season. A notable statistic for Clippers fans is his free throw percentage, which improved every year. As a freshman, he shot a mere 41%, which improved to 61% as a senior. While the final mark is still relatively low, the vast improvement is a good sign.

The Dominican-born Delgado won the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award last season as well, which is given to the top men’s collegiate center.

The Clippers used a two-way contract to sign Delgado, which has been a great success thus far for the team. LA used multiple two-way deals last season in signing C.J. Williams, Tyrone Wallace, and Jamil Wilson.

By rule, the Clippers will be able to swap Delgado back and forth between themselves and the Agua Caliente Clippers. He will have 45 days with the NBA’s Clippers, which, if used efficiently, will likely all be game days.

Fans were somewhat surprised when LA opted not to draft a big in the Lottery portion of the first round. With rumors about DeAndre Jordan‘s departure circulating, many were expecting them to take Texas A&M’s Robert Williams III. However, it appears LA had other plans. Having previously worked out Delgado on June 3, he may have been someone the team had their eye on for a long time.
