With the Los Angeles Clippers reportedly interested in the forward, we take a look at Michael Porter Jr. and what he could bring to the NBA.
The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly interested in trading up in the draft to have a chance at one of the top prospects this year, Michael Porter Jr. The Clippers options in acquiring Porter include him dropping to them in the draft, using some of their player assets to move up, or trading their 12th and 13th picks in the 2018 NBA Draft to take the forward.
The interest in Porter is perceived as a gamble and a mystery. The reasons being in how well he will preform in the NBA because of his injury permeated season with Missouri in college, only playing a few games the past season.
Although, Porter Jr. was one of the best players in the high school scene, captivating the basketball world, this gamble could grant the Clippers either a huge benefit or a serious travesty of a trade.
The hypothetical with Porter Jr. is something the Clippers could pounce on, but it also could be a dangerous move with an injury prone player. Michael Porter Jr. closely resembles former Clipper, Blake Griffin. However, if the Clippers do trade up for Porter, we certainly hope Porter will not be as injury prone as Blake Griffin turned out to be.
As a freshman college player entering the competitive NBA Draft, Michael Porter Jr. will be a top prospect. The strengths of his game include his scoring ability and rebounding. The great thing about Porter is that he has demonstrated his ability to shoot from NBA Range. In addition, the way he can spread the floor with perimeter shooting as well as driving into the paint grants him to be a dynamic player offensively. In rebounding, Porter’s height and wingspan of 7′.25” allows him to be a monster on the glass. In all, Porter would benefit any NBA team offensively, through spreading the floor and taking rebounds from the opponent.
If the Clippers could potentially take him, although a risk, he could have an emergence of success and become a star in today´s NBA.
