Los Angeles Clippers: 2018 NBA Mock Draft Lottery Predictions
4. Memphis Grizzlies: Michael Porter Jr, SF, Missouri
Marvin Bagley and Michael Porter Jr were the top to recruits coming into their only season at college. MPJ unfortunately suffered a serious back injury which sidelined him until the tournament. This definitely hurt his draft stock. He wasn’t too impressive in his few collegiate games, so I’ll base this off of his performance as a high school senior. Porter is a do-it-all wing. He is as athletic as they come and can make shots from anywhere. His foot speed and length make it so he could turn into a very nice perimeter defender. In high school, he and his brother Jontay Porter were coached by former Trailblazers guard, Brandon Roy. Together, they turned Nathan Hale from a bump in the road to one of the best high school teams in the country. If MPJ has fully healed from his injury and is back to his old form, he could be one of the best players in the draft. The Grizzlies can’t seem to make up their minds. Head coach, David Fizdale, was fired after a bad start to the season and the team then went on to be one of the worst teams in the league. They still have their aging duo of Mike Conley and Marc Gasol, but other than them, there isn’t much value on this team. MPJ could help make Memphis basketball exciting. They need absolutely anything they can get, and if I were them, I’d take the best player available.
