With the NBA trade deadline weeks away, rumors are starting to circulate regarding big-name players, including Clipper players.
The LA Clippers are in a very interesting position. They currently sit at 23-21, which puts them as the eighth seed in the highly competitive Western Conference. They’re only half a game out of ninth place, but also a game and-a-half out of fifth place. Which brings up a very, very difficult question::
Do you go for it, or do you start over?
According to Marc Stein, the Cleveland Cavaliers are interested in both DeAndre Jordan AND Lou Williams.
What should the Clippers do?
Both DeAndre and Lou are in the final years of their contracts, so moving them does make sense. However, not for players like Thompson and Smith.

Jordan is having another All-Star type season. He’s averaging 12 points and 15 rebounds a game, and is shooting a career-high 60 percent from the line. Lou Williams, who’s having the best season of his career, is averaging more than 23 points per game off the bench. To simply put it, both of these players are really good.
Earlier in the season, this deal would have made sense, as it appeared the Clippers were ready for a rebuild. That’s not the case anymore. They are one of the hottest teams in the NBA, and are currently riding the longest winning streak. Oh, and by the way, they are doing this with literally half of their team injured.
If the Cavaliers include that Brooklyn Nets pick, this deal might be a little more intriguing. That pick is likely going to be a top 10 pick, with the possibility of it falling in the top five. Adding youth and talent is something the Clippers desperately need. But at the price of DJ and Lou-Will, that’s up for debate.
Williams has already expressed his interest in resigning with the Clippers, and Jordan has the potential to retire as an all-time Clipper great. As mentioned, LA appears to be capable of making a post-season push. It just depends on the front office, and what their visions are for this Clippers team going forward.
