The Cleveland Cavaliers would reportedly think about a deal centered around Tristan Thompson and LA Clippers’ center, DeAndre Jordan.

According to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, the Cleveland Cavaliers would consider a deal centered around Tristan Thompson and the LA Clippers’ center, DeAndre Jordan if they believed it would help them beat the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.

"A league source believes this move, Jordan for Thompson, is one the Cavs would consider. How the Brooklyn pick figured in remains to be seen (Cleveland also has its own No. 1 pick), but if the Cavs felt Jordan was the only piece missing for them to take down the Warriors they’d have to consider this."

This move could be huge for the struggling LA Clippers. DeAndre Jordan has a player option for next season and it’s expected that he will opt out and test free agency. This isn’t the first we are hearing about DeAndre being involved in trade talks, either. As Joe Vardon mentions in his article, DeAndre’s numbers are down. His play this year has seemed lazy at times and many think it has to do with contract talks with the Clippers breaking down.

If the Clippers could flip him now for a solid player in Tristan Thompson and a pick, the team would almost have to pull the trigger. Thompson is signed through 2020 with a hefty price tag, but the draft pick is the key part of this trade.

The Brooklyn Nets pick could easily become a top 5 pick in the 2018 draft, which is reportedly a loaded draft class. If the Clips only gained the Cavs’ first rounder, it wouldn’t be as great, but would still give them 2 first round picks (they have their own next summer) in which they could draft more youth.
