The LA Clippers play the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden on Monday night. Is the the night the team finally ends their losing streak?
Let’s not go for 9 straight. The LA Clippers travel to Madison Square Garden tonight to face the New York Knicks. The Clips are on a league-worst 8 game losing streak after an extremely disappointing loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. Now, they hope to finally chalk up a win against the 8-7 Knicks.
The opponent
The team may have it’s hands full on defense with budding star Kristaps Porzingis. The Unicorn is averaging nearly 28 points per game on 48% shooting. He’s making two three-pointers per game, so DeAndre Jordan will have to make sure he closes out. The Knicks have some fight to them this year, so the Clippers will have to actually show some passion and effort, which they have lacked during this losing streak.
He’s baaaaack
Thankfully, the effort may come in full from one man: Patrick Beverley. After sitting out with a knee injury for the past 5 games, he’s sure to be fired up and ready to play. Perhaps the leadership of Beverley will be the spark that gets the team going. It’s assumed he will get the starting spot, alongside Austin Rivers, as the team still has no timetable for the return of Milos Teodosic.
The team is also still without their starting small forward, Danilo Gallinari. There is also no given timetable for his return.
Expect the Clippers to make a big effort tonight after an awful series of games. Maybe a big game in the Garden will be what this team needs to turn the season around.
