Importance of Chris Paul and Blake Griffins future contracts

Blake Griffin and Chris Paul are able to end the last year of their current deals and sign for a combined 380 million dollars. Yes, you read that right. Don’t expect either to take a pay cut either.

Chris Paul and LeBron James are not only the President and Vice President of the National Basketball Players Associations, but they are best friends along with Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony. Playing together and winning a title as best friends does sound interesting but it will come at a price. Both players have fought tooth and nail to advocate for the players to get proper compensation. So, taking a pay cut might not be the best option for the two leaders of the players union.

Blake Griffin is going to command serious attention and if he does not mind leaving money on the table, he could go to a contender this off-season and be the main guy. The Clippers have been adamant about keeping Griffin and doing what needs to be done.  Griffin is just getting into his prime, so he has some decisions to make.

Re-signing both players would be the first big step for the Clippers to bring LeBron James in. The next step?
