Two members of the LA Clippers made ESPN’s World Fame 100: Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. This is the second annual ranking of the biggest names in sports.

It’s been a very quiet offseason for the LA Clippers, but two players took home a prestigious honor on Tuesday. Blake Griffin and Chris Paul were awarded spots in ESPN’s World Fame 100.

The World Fame 100 is a list of the most famous athletes in the world. Put together by Ben Alamar, ESPN’s director of analytics, he sorts these players based off of social media following, internet search popularity, and endorsements.

This is a huge honor, considering only 11 NBA players cracked the list.

Chris Paul was the higher of the two Clippers, coming in at #51.

Down 12 spots from last years rankings, Chris Paul, who is still regarded as one of the best point guards in the game, will retire as one of the best floor generals in NBA history. Going into his 13th NBA season, Paul is just as popular as ever. With a combined 17 million followers on social media, he has a massive following. On top of that, he continuously shows off his comedic chops in his State Farm commercials.

Coming in at #63 on the list is Blake Griffin.

Falling 20 spots from last year, it’s a bit of surprise that Blake is below Paul. Griffin, who is one of the biggest NBA box-office draws of the decade, ultimately is responsible for the culture change in LA. He coined the term “Lob City”, and is one of the greatest dunkers we have ever seen. Griffin has a combined 11 million followers on social media.

Much like Paul, Griffin has shown he has comedic chops as well. Starring in KIA commercials, as well as comedy sketches, Griffin has proven he’s one of the funniest players in the NBA. Griffin has taken a step back over the last few seasons, as he’s toned it down on the flashy dunks, which may be hurting his popularity.

Having two players in the top 100 of most popular athletes is very cool. It’s no question these two are some of the greatest players in team history. Hopefully the Clippers can bring them back this summer.
