According to Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, the LA Clippers will not overpay in order to keep J.J. Redick in free agency. Redick, who will be 33 at the start of next season, is reportedly looking to make $18 to $20 million. Team officials have said that the team would consider re-signing J.J. if the price is to drop to a reasonable level.

With both Blake Griffin and Chris Paul likely opting out of their contracts, LA will have some decisions to make. Re-signing both stars will put the team over the luxury tax line, so signing anyone else could become problematic during free agency. However, rumors have circulated that the team wants to bring back both players. Luc Mbah a Moute and Mo Speights could also opt out of their contracts. Griffin and Paul would both have more guaranteed years and money if the decide to come back to the Clips.

J.J. Redick will likely have some demand this offseason, especially after having career years for the Clips over the past few seasons. With shooting at a premium in the league, his sharpshooting will be wanted by many teams. The 76ers could emerge as an option to overpay for him, especially with rumors of them going after Kyle Lowry.

It is possible that the LA Clippers could get Redick to agree to a sign and trade, but the team would have to find a suitable partner that J.J. would be willing to sign with. His $18 million price tag could help LA if they do have any real interest in getting the services of Carmelo Anthony from the New York Knicks.
