While the LA Clippers are currently playing the Utah Jazz in the Playoffs, rumors have surfaced that they will be getting a D-League team next season.
According to D-League Digest, the LA Clippers are looking to get a D-League team for next season.
"The Clippers are looking to set up shop in Ontario, CA according to multiple league sources. The organization has a strong desire to play there, but are currently pending league approval. If Ontario were to not work out, the backup option for the Clippers would be in Bakersfield, CA. The city was once home to a D-League team (Bakersfield Jam), but the Phoenix Suns purchased the franchise and subsequently moved them to Northern Arizona. Bakersfield was without a D-League team for the 2016-17 season."
The Clips, along with the Memphis Grizzlies, would join the numerous teams around the league that already have developmental teams.
It will be interesting, to say the least, to see the Clips develop players. During the tenure of Doc Rivers, nearly no young players have gotten any sort of playing time for the team. Multiple players, including Diamond Stone and Brice Johnson this season, have had brief stints in the D-League. With their own team in place, LA can run young players through their system and keep a close eye on their progression.

With free agency looming over star players Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and J.J. Redick, having a way to build up potential young stars is a smart decision for the Clips. Check back here at Clipperholics for more information as announcements are made.
