After going down in the opening possessions of Saturday’s game, Utah Jazz center, Rudy Gobert, is still questionable to return versus the LA Clippers.
It was a sight all too familiar to LA Clippers’ fans. During one of the opening possessions, Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz went to set a screen. He banged knees with Luc Mbah a Moute. The big man immediately went down in pain and had to be helped off the court. Gobert was unable to return to the game.
Fortunately, after an MRI on Sunday, it was revealed that there was no ligament damage in Gobert’s knee. However, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN, there is no timetable for Gobert to return against the Clips.
"“Trying to get better every day,” Gobert told ESPN via text message Sunday."
The Jazz’s coach, Quinn Snyder, would also not give any specific time table for Gobert’s return. He told reporters:
"“I don’t think we’re ready to say today, tomorrow, a week, two weeks,” Snyder told reporters at the Jazz’s practice in Los Angeles. “I think it’s literally that wide open.”"

Despite Rudy Gobert being injured, LA was unable to take advantage. Losing a player is not good for any team, but when he’s a top Defensive Player of the Year candidate, it’s even worse. The Clips, who have been bit by the injury bug in the past, had a golden opportunity presented to them, albeit in an unfortunate way. However, the Utah Jazz rallied and were able to defeat LA with some late games heroics by Joe Johnson.

Gobert is most likely not going to play in Tuesday’s match-up. The Clippers will look to adjust and correct their Game 1 mistakes as they try to tie the series.
