With a win against the Rockets, Doc Rivers won his 216th game as head coach of the LA Clippers, moving past Mike Dunleavy.

Monday night featured a lot of history. Paul Pierce moved into 15th place on the NBA All-Time scoring list. The Clippers won their 50th game, extending their streak of 50+ wins to five years, a franchise record. Doc Rivers also became the winningest coach in LA Clippers’ history. With win number 216, he passed Mike Dunleavy, and now sits atop the list of most wins as head coach.

It didn’t take long for him to do it, either. With one game left in his fourth season, Rivers reached the mark in about half of the time it took his predecessor. Rivers reached the milestone in 327 games, compared to the 541 games it took Dunleavy. Coaching from 2003-2010, Dunleavy led the team to one playoff appearance in the 2005-2006 season. After seven seasons with the club, Dunleavy stepped down as head coach midway through the 2009-2010 season, giving him a career record of 215-326 with the Clippers.

As mentioned, Doc is in his fourth season with the Clippers. He has a record of 216-111, however, the club have seen fewer wins each season he’s been here. Rivers has a playoff record of 15-18 with the Clips. Hopefully Doc can add 16 more wins to his playoff record with the Clippers this postseason.

Regardless of what happens, this is still a major accomplishment. Congrats, Doc!
