If you’re old school, you remember the days of NBA Street. Remember how much fun that used to be? Or, are you just tired of NBA 2k17? Get ready then, because NBA Playgrounds plans to take you back to the good ole days.

I’ll admit, I do play a lot of NBA 2k17. It’s a fun game. 2k is probably the most realistic NBA game on the market. It has endless options from MyCareer to MyGM to NBA Blacktop. You always have something new to try on 2k.

The one thing 2k17 never had though was the arcade style street basketball mode.  You know, the one where you could do triple alley-oops or dunk all over your opponents on a regular basis.

NBA Jam used to be the go to game. NBA Street had it, but no new game in that franchise has been made in years.

That’s where NBA Playgrounds comes in.

NBA Playgrounds

NBA Playgrounds plans to bring back that street type of video game. Per IGN, Playgrounds is Officially Licensed by the league, so you’ll be able to play as some of your favorite Clippers, like Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan.

"The game is a return to the arcade-style basketball games of yesterday, like NBA Street and NBA Jam. Officially licensed by the NBA, the game features players both active and retired, with Allen Iverson facing off against modern ballers Steph Curry and George Hill in the opening of the trailer.Every NBA team is featured in NBA Playgrounds, and the “roster of current and retired” players can be leveled-up. Keeping inline with its arcade-style roots, Playgrounds features “hundreds of over-the-top dunks and moves.”Playgrounds can be played solo, local-multiplayer, or “against the world” online.Developed by Saber Interactive, CEO Matt Karch calls it accessible enough for anyone to pick up and play, but it still has “a lot of depth for hardcore pros who’ve mastered their game.”NBA PlaygroundsGet Deal On Nintendo SwitchThis link directs to a retail affiliate. Be sure to pick up a copy when it’s released in May, so I can dunk on you. Until then, check out the trailer. Enjoy!
