Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony Addresses Clippers Rumors
Prior to their game in Los Angeles, Knicks’ forward Carmelo Anthony addressed rumors about him playing for the Clippers.
The Clippers and the Knicks are in very different states currently. The Clippers, although struggling recently, still look to make the playoffs and have a shot at making the Conference Finals. The Knicks, on the other hand, are yet again a lottery team.
During the countdown to the trade deadline, rumors circled around both teams that Carmelo Anthony would dress up in a Clippers uniform before the season was over. Monday, he finally addressed the concerns about playing in L.A.
"“No, no. I haven’t thought about it,” Anthony said. “I mean, there was an opportunity during the deadline, and there was always talk over the past couple seasons with me somehow being connected to the Clippers or Lakers.“At first it was the Lakers, and then now it’s the Clippers situation. So I try not to think about that, especially now when I’m still playing with the New York Knicks. I’ve got to go out there and prepare to play against these guys and other teams.”"
Now, this quote isn’t very definite. Carmelo does well to be the proper ambassador for his team. However, he doesn’t close the door on a possible move out west.
LA has been connected for Carmelo for at least two years straight, especially given his friendship with Chris Paul. With CP3 entering free agency this summer, could trading for Melo be something that would lure him into staying? It’s a rumor that will surely rear it’s head this summer.
RUMOR: Clippers interested in Carlos Boozer?
The Clippers, for now, will have to work with what they have as they jockey for playoff seeding as the season winds down.
