The other night while the Dallas Mavericks faced the Los Angeles Lakers, NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki reached an incredible 30,000 career points.  What Clippers can come close to that feat?

Dirk Nowitzki is the sixth NBA player to reach the 30,000 point milestone, and the 6th highest scorer of all time. How do Paul Pierce, Jamal Crawford and Chris Paul of the LA Clippers compare to him?

Before we go into Clippers-related details, we must first examine some of the achievements Dirk Nowitzki has reached in his career. Dirk has been a Maverick since 1998. He was the 2006-2007 season MVP, and an NBA Finals MVP after leading the 2010-2011 Mavericks to a championship against the Heat, 5 seasons after losing to them in the 2006 NBA Finals. He is a 13 time All-Star, and has now scored 30,000 points. Dirk signed a 2-year contract in the 2016 offseason, and as of now, plans on completing that contract. What an illustrious career for the German sensation. The LA Clippers have some future hall of famers of their own though…

Paul Pierce

Paul Pierce is the closest thing to Dirk Nowitzki on the Clippers. While his career was mostly made with the Celtics, he continues to score in LA this season, albeit very little. He is currently playing his last season, and is #16 on the all-time scoring board with 26,364 points.  He won a championship in 2008 with current Clippers’ coach Doc Rivers, and was named the NBA Finals MVP. He is also a 10 time All Star.

Jamal Crawford

36-year old Jamal Crawford has accumulated 17,855 career points.  The impressive part of that stat, is that Crawford has been a 6th man for a big part of his career, getting less than 30 minutes per game for 10 of his 18 seasons in the league. Crawford has also earned the 6th Man Of The Year award three times, has the 6th most 3-pointers of all time, and has the most four-point plays ever (50). He has accomplished all of this, but is just #72 on the all-time scoring list, compared to Dirk’s #6.

Chris Paul

Chris Paul has the third most career points for a current Clipper at 15,244. Paul was the 2005-2006 Rookie of the Year, and is a 9-time All Star. He is a 6-time steals leader for the league, and is #15 on the all-time steals leader board. While his career points are just over half of Dirk’s, 15,244 isn’t “half” bad for a man who has the 10th most all-time assists (8083). His pass first mentality has limited him in this aspect. He is #130 on the all-time scoring list, and will continue to rise.
