There’s no denying that the Clippers have been playing below their ability as of late. Since starting the season at 14-2, LA has gone 24-23, bringing them to 37-25 overall. During that poor stretch, it’s been head coach Doc Rivers that’s taken a lot of the heat. Is the criticism deserved, or is it all just water under the bridge?

The Clippers are better than their record, right? And the only reason we’ve lost so many games is because of all the injuries, right? And we’ll get it all together during the playoffs, right?

Actually, no. That may not be right.

Whether people are overreacting to recent losses or not, the reality of the situation is that Doc Rivers is the man to blame.

Owner Steve Ballmer may have to look long and hard at his coach and general manager this summer, especially if Blake Griffin and Chris Paul bolt.

It seems that our guys are just uninspired, to put it simply. We aren’t seeing any effort plays and players are standing around. We look defeated. While rumors are just rumors, there is cause for Doc to be concerned about the security of his position.

In a recent interview with Chris Broussard, it was none other than former Clippers player, Glen “Big Baby” Davis, that was critical of his former coach:

"“What Doc had in ’08 was special and he was lucky as hell. Lucky as hell. The year before that they was wearing trash bags. But then the next year they win it, now he is one of the best coaches ever? I’m just not feeling that. You know what I mean? You give credit to KG. You give credit to Paul Pierce. You give credit to Ray Allen. Those are the guys who made sure whatever Doc needed to be done, got done."

So what’s the deal? Were KG and company stronger willed than our current crew? Or is Doc just not confident in our core anymore? Either way, it seems as though the rivers have stopped flowing on this year’s Clippers squad.
