With issues and injuries, the trade deadline is a date that lives rent-free in the back of the LA Clippers' minds. They may end up making some wild trades, and Zach Lowe, on the latest episode of "The Zach Lowe Show," also agrees, with the amount of chaos that has already occurred this season.
The Clippers should be the top caller, spamming teams around the league for their stars, ready to make a blockbuster deal. Lawrence Frank knows he will miss one hundred percent of the shots he does not take, implying that even if it is a Hail Mary, an inquiry should still be made.
Additionally, just after Lowe mentioned the Clippers as one of the teams he picked to handle business at the deadline, he mentioned LA as a dark horse candidate for a star who was one of the centerpieces of the craziest trade in NBA history.
Zach Lowe believes the LA Clippers have a chance at securing Anthony Davis
Because it took one of the top three greatest players in franchise history, Luka Doncic, to acquire Anthony Davis, the Dallas Mavericks could reject every offer involving the star big man. But Zach Lowe personally does not believe Mark Cuban's words on Davis remaining a Maverick in the near future, and Howard Beck shakes his head side to side, agreeing.
One of Lowe's sleeper destinations for Davis is the LA Clippers, and it makes sense why he believes so. The Clippers are evidently alarmed by their season thus far, and to ease some of the pain, Lawrence Frank may go through with a historic trade, thinking it could save their season.
Davis has played only five games this season, averaging 20.8 points and 10.2 rebounds while shooting 52.0% from the field.
Will landing a player with just as lengthy an injury history as Kawhi Leonard improve matters this season? No, yet Frank may only see the upside and potential, just as the Mavericks did when they traded Doncic, and initiate talks that may include Ivica Zubac.
That said, the Clippers had a solid trade deadline last year, but this season may end up holding the craziest sequence the team's fans have ever witnessed. It is an expectation, if anything, at this point, as Frank needs to execute an array of moves to position LA to win its way out of the risky waters of the play-in tournament.
