Typically, when a player, especially someone who spent a sufficient amount of time with an organization and changed the team’s culture/identity, is traded or walks away in free agency, a heartfelt message is shared. This shows appreciation for the support, and fans of the LA Clippers saw it with Ivica Zubac, James Harden, and a handful of others over the years.

However, Kawhi Leonard, who spent seven years with the Clippers and left behind a ton of memories to look back on, had other plans. He kept it short and to the point in an Instagram post, which ultimately means he is ready to close the chapter of his career he spent in LA and ready to start his next with the Toronto Raptors.

"I truly appreciate your unwavering support during both the highs and lows. Thank you, Clip Nation."

Honestly, it’s understandable to feel hurt by the way Leonard handled his goodbye, all things considered, but the bright side is that the drama is over and a new era is underway.

Kawhi Leonard is ready to put LA behind him and move on to his days with the Raptors

It’s clear as day that Kawhi Leonard is eager to run things back with the Toronto Raptors with the hope of winning the third ring of his career. Why is that? Well, there are a number of reasons.

First and foremost, Leonard’s name and the investigation he was involved in were constantly in the spotlight for roughly an entire year. Although it makes sense why, this can become a distraction to his game on the court, which, of course, no one would want, let alone a superstar with high expectations on their shoulders.

Secondly, Leonard has a championship-ready team waiting for him in Toronto. The current foundation of Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett, along with the several high-end role players they have, is enough to contend, despite how stacked the Eastern Conference is. What top-10 talent in the NBA wouldn’t be excited to join that?

Lastly, the Raptors’ front office is reportedly ready to offer a massive contract extension. This gives Leonard a secure future for the next few seasons in one of the final stages of his NBA career.

That said, while Leonard’s short goodbye just after he was officially traded to the Raptors stings, it makes sense. This makes me wonder if Leonard remaining silent would’ve been the better option. Sometimes, saying nothing is the way to go, especially when there is a lot of emotion in the air.
