At first overall, the Dallas Mavericks have done everything but submitted Cooper Flagg's name on draft night. The pick is as apparent as ever, and every executive in Dallas' front office knows they would be making a generational error by passing on the Duke superstar.

This leads to the second overall pick, which the San Antonio Spurs currently hold. At one point, rumors surfaced that San Antonio's front office had a vision of pairing the future all-time great, Victor Wembanyama, with Giannis Antetokounmpo through trade.

Conversely, the Spurs have the ball in their court and seem more comfortable picking who is the best fit at number two. Countless stars may be dreaming of playing next to Wembanyama, but it is becoming more likely San Antonio will select another guard to form a solid backcourt with Stephon Castle.

Furthermore, after Flagg, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights basketball program had the second-best draftee in the nation, Dylan Harper. He is projected to go second to the Spurs, which is extravagant for everyone within the organization except one player.

Veteran guard Chris Paul is a free agent this summer, and if the Spurs select Harper, he will likely sign with another contender.

Chris Paul signing with the LA Clippers is a dream fans wished came true last summer

In the offseason of 2024, LA Clippers fans were hoping Chris Paul would come back to where he spent his prime. Rumors were there, but Paul envisioned himself elevating Victor Wembanyama. Thus, he signed a one-year, $10 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs.

However, with Castle, De'Aaron Fox, and possibly Dylan Harper, Paul would be in the back of the depth chart with the reserves because of his age and impact. He is still solid, but the players ahead are better options.

Moreover, Paul played a shocking 82 games last season, which is surreal for a 39, now 40-year-old guard, and averaged 8.8 points, 7.4 assists, and 3.6 rebounds, shooting 42.7% from the field, 37.7% from a distance, and 92.4% from beyond the arc.

Currently, the Clippers' front office has enough available through the mid-level exception to acquire Paul on a one-year deal. This could be the last of his career, and it would only be right to fight for a ring in LA as he did in 'Lob City,' and hopefully come out successful.

Nonetheless, Clipper fans hope Paul ends his legendary marathon in Intuit Dome.
