Not every NBA head coach gets the opportunity to experiment with different lineups featuring multiple superstars. This is likely one of the most exciting parts about being on the sidelines, and the sum of proper management could be a generational dynasty.
Tyronn Lue, on the other hand, has had multiple opportunities with superstar forces surrounding Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and James Harden, a privilege granted to the head coach in a major market.
However, Doc Rivers had some of the same experiences and then some, as he too coached Leonard and George, as well as Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan, each in their primes.
In both eras, a championship was not won, but outstanding net ratings and statistics have been produced. Yet, the 'Lob City' period ranks historically high in terms of best lineups of the century, and this is something the NBA community must acknowledge.
The 'Lob City' era for the Clippers had a top ten lineup of the century thus far
On paper, the 'Lob City' era for the LA Clippers could be seen as equally talented as their modernized version with Kawhi Leonard at the helm. The star power was evident in both, and above all, a championship head coach was in charge.
But many consider Leonard's era to be stronger, and it makes sense, as he was on the roster that went to the conference finals for the first time in franchise history.
Moreover, in terms of statistics, the 'Lob City' lineup of Chris Paul, JJ Redick, Matt Barnes, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan played 2,579 possessions together, and posted a +18 net rating and 469 net points.

Although these numbers were totaled across multiple seasons, not every team can claim to have had a lineup that performed better in many aspects than LeBron James' days with the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers, as well as the old Oklahoma City Thunder squad led by Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant.
What may be even crazier is that the Clippers next season may have more talent than ever before. If Tyronn Lue constructs the correct lineup that blends perfectly, they could surpass the legendary numbers displayed from 'Lob City'.
Nonetheless, the highlights and memories from the earlier Clipper days are not the only things that should be cherished, as these net statistics are special. They should be held on to tightly, as fans can always look back and say, "That was one of the best times in history."
