When Paul George officially announced his decision to leave the LA Clippers, there was a clear mixed reaction from the fanbase in Los Angeles. Of course, plenty were sad to lose the production PG brought to the court, and many more were upset at the way he handled the situation that led to his ultimate departure.

But there was also a not-so-small collection of Clippers fans that were less than disappointed to see George go given everything that happened. Considering the circumstances and the way he went out in his last few games with the organization, many were happy to move on and move forward in a new era of Clippers basketball.

As such, that leaves many Clippers fans looking at 76ers fans knowing the city of Philadelphia is about to go through a similar experience they did over the course of the last five years. The Sixers will get every single positive that comes with George's services, but they will not be shorted the negatives either.

Maxey: "The fit is crazy if you think about it"

All this ties into Philly point guard Tyrese Maxey's recent statement on Paul George and the 76ers as a whole. Appearing on Podcast P with Paul George, Maxey revealed his honest reaction to first hearing that PG would become a Sixer.

"The fit is crazy if you think about it," he said. "We got, if not the best player in the world, the best big man in the world, in big fella, Joel (Embiid), and then myself a guard and then a wing. You can’t ask for nothing better than that."

Tyrese appears to have the utmost confidence that this Philadelphia team can do something special if all the pieces come together. "Of course, you got to go out there and put the work in and still got to click, do the chemistry and all those different things and fill out the rest of the roster," said Maxey. "But when you look at it, it looks great."

Maxey ultimately makes a good point in that the 76ers now have an elite guard, wing, and big man to build their team around. If everything goes right, there is certainly reason to believe that team can go far in the Eastern Conference. But at the same time, this feels like the same sentiment Clippers fans gave five years ago before George's tenure in LA began. Time will tell if this situation will be different or not.
