The LA Clippers currently employ some of the NBA's most recognizable offensive talents of the last decade. Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Russell Westbrook and James Harden have all achieved a remarkable amount in this league with their respective scoring prowess.
But in the year 2023, these players did not join forces to become the highest scoring quartet in league history. In the latter stages of their careers, they recognize that their roles will have to be different from when they were each at the height of their powers.
This is something Kawhi Leonard recently spoke on. The two-time Finals MVP understands as well as anyone that offense alone will not win you an NBA championship, and he stressed to media members that the Clippers are still trying to be a defense-first team.
Recently, this is something LA has been excelling at. In their last 10 games, the Clippers have held the top defensive rating in the NBA.
In the last 10 Clippers games -- aka ever since their 6-game losing streak ended -- LAC has produced the top defensive rating (108.6) in that more than two-week span. It has helped opponents are shooting only 32% on above-the-break 3s in that run, NBA's third-lowest 3P%.

LA has the league's best defensive rating in the last 10 games
Everyone is aware of the fact that the Clippers went on an unfortunate six game losing streak after acquiring James Harden. This was a natural byproduct of having to make so many quick and significant adjustments.
But since ending their losing streak, LA has posted the best defensive rating in the association with a 108.6 mark, while giving up a much-improved 106.9 points per game. On a team of guys known as offensive powerhouses, it is no small matter that they are coming together to win with defense.
They still have a long way to go, but the fact the Clippers have already strung together these strong defensive performances is a very encouraging sign.
