Probably the biggest storyline surrounding the LA Clippers in this coming season is concerning their various new additions. The Clippers saw a notable amount of roster turnover from last season, leading to the influx of new and differently-skilled new role players.

Guys like Derrick Jones Jr., Kris Dunn, Kevin Porter Jr. and others will all bring fresh faces to the roster, along with providing some unique skillsets that will serve to support the stars of this team. With some time to adjust, the Clippers could be right back in the playoffs come April.

But LA is not only looking forward to the contributions of newcomers. They will also expect to get some greater production from some of their role players from further down the bench last season as well. One of those players, Kobe Brown, spoke with media on Monday.

Kobe shared an exciting bit of info regarding what kind of work he was able to put in this offseason. According to The Athletic reporter Law Murray, he explained that he is now weighing in at 245 pounds, which would be 16 pounds lighter than what he was listed as in 2023-24.

This is of course a big change for the young wing, and one that could give him a real boost in terms of earning minutes and making a significant impact. Murray also said that Brown told reporters he expects to have a chance at playing center this season, a year after he spent time at basically every position except for the five.

It may be a little hard to envision Kobe at center, but why not give it a try? After losing Mason Plumlee and Daniel Theis in free agency, the Clippers do not have any other rostered centers with legitimate experience to back up Ivica Zubac. Brown stands at just 6-foot-7, but he brings the level of physicality and strength needed to play the position.

This is exciting news for the Clippers fanbase for the simple reason that it gives the roster a bit more versatility. If Kobe were preparing to simply play all his minutes at the standard wing spots, there would be less ways for him to impact the game with his skillset. If Ty Lue is comfortable with it, there is no reason to not take some inspiration from the 2019-20 Rockets and put Brown in the center spot.
