James Harden cost Clippers the game against Denver with one sequence
By Will Eudy
It was nothing short of a nightmare for the LA Clippers on Monday night. Facing a Denver Nuggets team playing without Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, LA wasted a massive opportunity to defeat an injury-depleted team and crumbled in the fourth quarter.
The result was one of the most embarrassing losses in recent franchise history. To make matters worse, former Clippers Reggie Jackson and DeAndre Jordan spearheaded Denver's effort and were the biggest reasons they came out with the win.
One of the most disappointing Clippers performances of the night came from James Harden, who finished with just 11 points. He also ended up ultimately costing LA the game with an unfortunate sequence late in the final frame of play.
James Harden's disastrous sequence cost the Clippers the game
With 100 seconds left in the game and the Clippers down four points, James Harden drove to the basket but lost control, turning the ball over in a crucial juncture. As the Nuggets brought the ball down the floor, Reggie Jackson called for a screen to get Harden switched onto him. When he got the matchup he wanted, Jackson exploded past Harden and scored to put Denver up six.
It was a brutal exclamation point on what was a difficult night for James Harden. The fact that it was beloved former Clipper Reggie Jackson putting his former team away only added insult to injury.
Clippers fans will no doubt do their best to put the memory of this cringe-inducing game away forever.
