Clippers were reportedly never interested in desirable free agent

The way the LA Clippers' front office has reshaped the team's roster over the last three weeks is commendable. Not every management group in the league would have shown as much preparedness as the Clippers did after losing Paul George in free agency.
Rather than panicking, LA showed that they had done their due diligence with George's situation in immediately signing worthwhile replacements following his departure. While Steve Ballmer hated to lose PG, the additions he helped orchestrate since that happened should help keep this team in the playoff picture next season.
There were several rumored Clippers free agent targets that never actually came to fruition. Perhaps there is still a chance the team signs someone else, but it appears one particular name is off their radar for good: Tyus Jones.
The Clippers were never interested in Tyus Jones
There had previously been unconfirmed reports that the Clippers were interested in acquiring Jones, but according to Law Murray of The Athletic, the team was never actually interested in going after him. The now-completed trade for Kris Dunn will all but end any chance Tyus becomes a Clipper.
A reliable point guard that operates as a true, old-school floor general, Jones put up nothing short of a career-year in Washington this past season. While the Wizards struggled to pick up wins, Tyus took his level of play to a completely new level in his first year with the team.
Jones put up career-highs of 12.0 points and 7.3 assists while shooting 48.9% from the floor and retaining his title of player with the highest assist-to-turnover ratio in the entire league for the fifth season in a row. Of course, all this turned him into one of the most coveted point guards on the market in this free agency cycle.
With Tyus off the table for the Clippers, their roster is likely to be largely set for next season.
