Clippers add G League Most Improved Player for training camp

Two weeks remain before the LA Clippers officially hop on a charter flight and take off for Honolulu, Hawaii. It is there they will complete training camp and prepare for the season with the entire roster present.
When the players and coaches get there, it appears they will have at least one new face with them. It was announced on Tuesday that the Clippers have officially agreed to a training camp deal with the former Most Improved Player of the NBA G League, Alondes Williams.
With this new signing, Williams will participate in all team activities while in Hawaii. He will compete with the rest of the rostered players and have his shot to impress the coaching staff, with the potential to even earn a bigger deal with the team should the circumstances work in his favor.
Alondes Williams will join the Clippers for training camp
Beginning his professional career in 2022, Alondes left the college ranks with an impressive resume. He began at the community college level, earning consecutive first team All-North Central Community College Conference honors in both 2018 and 2019.
From there, Williams moved up to Divison I, where he became a productive player at Oklahoma University. But where he really shined was in his final year of collegiate eligibility at Wake Forest. In 2021-22, he earned first team All-ACC honors, while also taking home the ACC Player of the Year award. Alondes put up just the second triple-double in Demon Deacons history during his one season at the school.
Going undrafted in the 2022 draft, Williams has been putting in the work to earn himself a full-time opportunity with an NBA team. He has spent time with both the Brooklyn Nets and most recently the Miami Heat over the course of the last two seasons. It was while he was a member of the Heat on a two-way contract that he secured the title of G League Most Improved Player, putting up over 20 points per game in last year's G League season.
Now, Alondes will be bringing his interesting hybrid playstyle to the Clippers, at least for training camp. An incredibly athletic player with a good IQ for seeing the floor and playmaking, the 6-foot-4 Williams could be a dark horse to end up on the full-time roster when the season tips off in the third week of October.
