2. Philadelphia 76ers
Another team that should be considered as one of the top Paul George suitors is the Philadelphia 76ers. Coming off a first-round exit in the playoffs, it can be easy to forget that the Sixers were at or near the top of the Eastern Conference standings for well over half of this past season.
Before Joel Embiid went down with a meniscus injury, Philly looked to be right on par with the Boston Celtics as one of the biggest powers in the East. They made a big improvement in hiring Nick Nurse as their Head Coach, and his leadership trickled down into every nook and cranny of the 76ers' approach.
The Sixers added some impactful free agents in the offseason like Kelly Oubre and internal development played a big part in their ascension as well. Tyrese Maxey won the Most Improved Player Award, and Embiid looked like the easy choice for MVP in January. Incredibly, even Embiid appeared to have refined his approach from last season.
The health of their best player will always be the biggest key for the 76ers, not unlike the Clippers' situation. But adding Paul George would give Philly a third star and potentially put them in the top tier of championship contenders.
