Paul George's injury status for Sunday vs Clippers is revealed
By Will Eudy
Since leaving the LA Clippers in the 2024 offseason, Paul George has unfortunately dealt with some nagging injury troubles in the beginning stages of his tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers. On October 14 during a preseason game, George suffered a bone bruise while hyperextending his left knee.
The injury kept him out of the Sixers' lineup for multiple weeks before he returned to the floor in early November. In just his eighth game of the season against the Grizzlies on Wednesday, George ended up repeating his injury and hyperextending the same knee, leading to some obvious concern from Philadelphia.
Fortunately, the injury this time around was not as bad as the first time, according to 76ers coach Nick Nurse. George's MRI results reportedly showed no structural damage in the knee. He avoided any long-term complications. However, this diagnosis does mean that he has been ruled out for at least the next two games on Philly's schedule.
Paul George has been ruled out of Sunday's game vs Clippers
What that means is that PG is set to miss his second matchup with his former team this Sunday. George of course already appeared in the Clippers' first matchup with the Sixers back on November 6, but he will be out of the lineup when LA travels to Philadelphia this weekend.
This is a shame number one for the sake of George having to suffer from a repeat injury, but secondly because PG and the Clippers' fanbase have been building up quite a solid little rivalry. After Norman Powell fired back at George following LA's win over the Magic earlier this week, fans were definitely getting excited about the prospect of handing PG and his team another loss.
Perhaps the matchup becomes easier for the Clippers without Paul George in the lineup, but the excitement around facing a former franchise star and current rival is gone. LA should simply focus on taking care of business against the struggling 76ers on Sunday, and worry about George and his friendly trash talk later.
