Fans of the LA Clippers, all over the world, have been hoping for Darius Garland’s return to be sooner rather than later, as the rotation is in dire need of shot creation and playmaking. Well, their wishes appear close to being granted; Law Murray of ‘The Athletic’ just revealed that Garland could return Monday against the Golden State Warriors.
It would be his first game as a Clipper, and although Murray added that a minutes restriction is likely for Garland, something is better than nothing. Fans just want him out there, getting reps, helping the team in any way possible as they fight for a top-eight seed.
Once Garland adapts, and his toes, which have been the lingering cause of injury throughout his career, check the boxes that they are good to go, Tyronn Lue will immediately begin to ease him into the 30-35 minute range.

If there were even the slightest fear within the LA Clippers’ organization that Darius Garland needed more time, the training staff’s approach in practice would be a lot different. He would be doing extensive individual drills, contact-less work with his coaches, and likely a good bit of film study for the sole purpose of helping his teammates see through his lens.
Kawhi Leonard would also have approved of Garland being encouraged not to rush, as he understands the two-time All-Star is the face of the future and that the team does not need a long-term injury to his lower extremities.
However, Clippers fans were updated that Garland has participated in five-on-five scrimmages. This is the ultimate sign that a return is near, as these are played at game pace, with the entire squad battling as hard as they can to prepare for the real thing.

Garland will be coming back at a great time as well. He would have enough of the regular season left to have his restriction removed, breathing room to correct any mistakes made as the second option, and gear up for the playoffs.
That said, the level of excitement in Garland just reached a new high. The fanbase has waited weeks for the day he is introduced under the Intuit Dome as a Clipper, and now it is becoming clear that the moment is set to arrive extremely soon.
