It is no secret that the LA Clippers have been playing some of the best basketball of any team in the association as of late. Without Kawhi Leonard and even while missing leading scorer Norman Powell for a stretch as well, the Clippers have been rallying behind a collective winning mindset and strong defense, with Tyronn Lue's brilliant tactical mind leading the way.

LA's surprising performance has led to opponents changing their mindset when they see the Clippers on the schedule. Before the season, some Western Conference rivals probably thought this would be a team they could bring their C+ game against and still win. Now, opposing teams know they are in for a challenge each time they step foot on court with the Clippers.

Fans are not the only ones who have taken notice of the Clippers' stellar individual and team performances. Coaches around the league are watching and taking notes as well, including Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch.

While appearing on KFAN FM 100.3 Tuesday morning, Finch spoke about his team's game against the Clippers last Friday. In doing so, he was sure to mention the lethal pick-and-roll duo of James Harden and Ivica Zubac.

Finch praised the Harden and Zubac connection

" is benefitting from the James Harden effect," said Finch. "He's been a great player. I've long been a fan of his. Got great hands, can catch and finish from all different places around the basket, he's a very good rim protector. But with the ball in Harden's hands and him in pick-and-roll with Zubac, right now it's one of the more lethal combinations in the league."

It is far from surprising that someone as knowledgeable as Finch would make this observation. He has over 13 years of coaching experience in this league, and he knows impactful players and teams when he sees them. It is clear the kind of high-level basketball the Clippers are playing right now, and of course Harden and Zubac's chemistry play a big part in that.

Getting this kind of compliment from an accomplished coach like Finch speaks to how well LA is playing right now. Maybe not every national media outlet is talking about the Clippers at the moment, but Minnesota's coach knows how effective James Harden still is even at this age, and his words serve to give LA their due credit.
