Every year, the LA Clippers have a different mentality at the trade deadline. Sometimes they move quietly, making minor moves to improve the little details; other times, they make massive changes to key aspects of the roster that immediately shift the trajectory of the rest of the season.
For 2027, especially because the Clippers added Max Strus in a trade and didn’t give up any players in return, it’s already clear what the Clippers are going to do: have a garage sale to the rest of the league, as the active rotation has an ample amount of guards and wings that can produce at a high level.
From quality defensive abilities around the perimeter in Kris Dunn and Derrick Jones Jr., to exceptional three-point shooting in Strus, Bradley Beal, and Rui Hachimura, to size in the frontcourt in Brook Lopez and Isaiah Jackson, the Clippers have it all.
Almost everyone will be available on the LA Clippers at the 2027 deadline
The only player on the current roster the LA Clippers will deem nearly untouchable is the fifth overall pick, Keaton Wagler. There is almost nothing in the book a team can offer the Clippers for Wagler, as he is viewed as the face of the franchise, unless a rising, proven superstar is in the conversation.
Everyone else, though, will be attainable for the Clippers, including the best players on the team such as Darius Garland and Brandon Ingram (pending trade). Will the front office go out of their way to move them? At the moment, probably not, due to the fact that they want to stay in contention for the playoffs.
But, for the right price, which benefits LA’s vision for the foreseeable future, Garland and Ingram’s spot in LA is by no means safe, despite everything they have to offer.
In return, all the Clippers will want are picks, particularly in the first round, young players on inexpensive contracts, and veterans that don’t disrupt the team’s plans to have some of the most cap space in the league during the 2027 offseason.
So, if there’s a team out there that has holes in their roster heading into the season, which could be quite literally anything on both sides of the ball or even a seasoned veteran to help out in the locker room, they should call the Clippers at some point towards early February to fix what they can.
