For NBA players, and specifically All-Stars with high expectations, most begin the offseason with a vacation to their dream destination or sit back, relax, and enjoy time at home. Rightfully so, this break is well deserved as the majority of their year is occupied by traveling from city to city while enduring the physical and mental strain of the game.

However, in other cases, players are driven by their desire and dreams to win. When disappointment arises through missing the playoffs or exiting the postseason without any hardware, they get right back to work.

The LA Clippers have one of those players in Kawhi Leonard, and his mentality is among the rarest in the world. He is constantly in the gym, taking minimal days off, and his history speaks for itself.

Even after all of the career-altering injuries he has faced, Leonard’s game appears to have stayed the same, with no detriments. Of course, his availability has decreased, but as far as his aggressiveness and skill set on both sides of the ball goes, the two-time champion has improved, if anything.

Moreover, this season, Leonard sat out to start the year but was healthy enough to play through the playoffs despite the loss. He averaged 25.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in seven games against the Denver Nuggets and could have maintained his dominance had the Clippers advanced to the second round.

Most players and coaches took the loss to Denver as a lesson to learn from, which is fair; however, for Leonard, this was the first time he had entered the summer without an injury since the bubble. This called for additional preparation, which was revealed to fans in an exciting update from executive Lawrence Frank.

Kawhi Leonard was still going to work, even after the first-round loss, which is bound to thrill Clipper fans

In an update from Lawrence Frank that occurred after the LA Clippers selected Yanic Konan Niederhauser in the first round, he mentioned that Kawhi Leonard trained tirelessly until the end of the NBA Finals, proving that his body can survive through the pressures of rounds two, three, and four.

This is fantastic news, and it foreshadows what next season could bring, which is a championship if another star is acquired and Leonard plays a reasonable number of games. He was always capable; it just required years of patience to reach this level of health.
