Even without Kawhi Leonard on the floor, LA Clippers fans have been treated to some exciting moments so far this season. For one, no one who was in attendance for the opening of Intuit Dome is likely to ever forget the event. Clippers fans witnessed one of the most meaningful nights in franchise history when their team finally christened its own home.
There have been plenty of notable performances on the hardwood as well. Norman Powell has backed up his bold preseason claim in a big way, leading the team in scoring and helping lead LA to an over .500 record through 15 games as of this writing.
The other biggest story from the Clippers starting lineup has to be James Harden. With Kawhi Leonard still yet to see the floor this season, Harden has stepped up as one of the leaders of this squad and has done a lot to help LA win games. Steve Kerr recently praised his style of play offensively, saying that it was a big factor in helping the Clippers take down the Warriors twice.
Harden made headlines earlier this week when he officially surpassed Ray Allen on the all-time leaderboard for three-pointers made. Allen's 2,973 makes now stands at third on the leaderboard in NBA history, behind Stephen Curry at number one and Harden at number two.
Harden was touched by KD's personal message to him
This is of course an unbelievable accomplishment, and one that only Curry has ever achieved before. By all means, Harden is in an extremely elite class when it comes to proficiency and longevity from beyond the arc, and his accomplishment is well worth celebrating.
One of his former teammates and friends who helped him celebrate the milestone was Kevin Durant. Leading up to Harden breaking the record, Durant recorded a video of himself watching the first three of James' career. The moment has significance to him because KD assisted the shot while the two were playing on the Oklahoma City Thunder together.
"Man, first three-pointer in the league," said Durant in the video. "Congrats JH, on reaching an amazing accomplishment. All the work that you put in has paid off. You inspire so many people around the world with how you play. Been a great teammate, a great friend. I love you brother, keep grinding."
When Harden was asked about this moment in the Clippers' postgame press conference on Sunday, he told a reporter that he had not yet seen the video. After hearing what Durant told him, James seemed very touched. "He said all that?" Harden asked with a smile. Many noticed his genuine reaction to the message from his friend, and it was certainly a heartwarming moment.
