As two of the once-considered future faces of the NBA, Trae Young was just dealt to the Washington Wizards, and Ja Morant is next in line following reports on his availability on the Memphis Grizzlies' trade block. However, the Atlanta Hawks' return forces trade power against the Grizzlies, as Morant is another first-option point guard around Young's age in a down season, but also has injury history.

Furthermore, the LA Clippers had an eye on Young and will inevitably have one on Morant. Their perfect package consists of John Collins, Kris Dunn, and Brook Lopez, for the 2019 Rookie of the Year.
The bids for Morant may be less than Young’s, and that would not be a mistake; that is the reality. The only advantage he has over the new face of the Wizards, who has a player option this summer, is that he is rostered through the 2027-28 season.
Thus, landing Morant would be a budget-friendly chess move, as no other team would have two eras of superstars ready to keep the franchise afloat in championship contention.
Ja Morant could try for a ring with the superstar duo, then lead on his own
The arrival of Ja Morant would not change Lawrence Frank's outlook on James Harden and Kawhi Leonard. He still has faith in the superstar duo to win a championship, and the addition of an athletic phenom like Morant is the complement, for now.
Immediately, Morant’s impact would be tied to playmaking, using his athleticism to put pressure on the rim, and defending with the gifts he has always had. This differs from Murray State and the Memphis Grizzlies, yet the constant reminder to him centers on the next five seasons.
When Harden and Leonard are off the books, Morant’s first-option role would be reignited. But by then, he will have already adapted to the organization, coaching, and culture, which would in no way, shape, or form take a toll on his adjustment to a new setting.
He would have the capacity to be himself, which originated from Taylor Jenkins' execution, with dunks, game-winners, and a lethal handle-first-step combination that was an inspiration.
That said, the Clippers’ front office should be in meetings for long hours, working sleepless nights, and staying overtime to discuss a plan for Morant. The trade deadline is less than a month away, and everyone should be prepared for a blockbuster move.
