By now, it's well known that the LA Clippers will have plenty of money to spend next summer. That was the original plan, and because their future just took a dramatic turn in the wrong direction after the NBA's findings on cap circumvention involving Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers, the front office will likely stick with it and target star-level players in restricted free agency.
One name to watch is Brandon Miller. He seems to be on the verge of breaking out into the peak version of himself, and unfortunately for the Clippers, the Charlotte Hornets are aware. As a result, they are prioritizing an extension with Miller in the near future, which was mentioned on the Hoop Collective by Brian Windhorst, one of the most credible insiders in the basketball world.
Windhorst adds that because the Hornets moved on from LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges, two players who were earning relatively expensive salaries, in the offseason via trade, they have plenty of flexibility in their cap room to secure a long-term future with Miller.

It’s no secret Brandon Miller would be a dream addition for the LA Clippers. He’s talented, hasn’t even scratched the surface of his potential yet, and screams as someone who could be the face of a winning franchise.
Last season, with the Charlotte Hornets finally above .500, Miller, at just 23, averaged 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists, shooting 43.5% from the field and 38.3% from beyond the arc.
Those numbers are excellent, and they look even better, particularly his three-point efficiency, when you factor in the fact that Miller shot over eight attempts per game. That’s absurd, and it shows how talented and consistent he is, especially since he played 65 games.
He has become the exact player the Hornets hoped he would when they shocked the world by taking him second overall over Scoot Henderson.
That said, it’s clear as day why the Clippers should be hoping Miller and the Hornets do not agree on an extension before he enters restricted free agency next summer.
If the Clippers get what they want and Miller decides to test the waters, LA can offer him money, whatever role he wants, and the chance to play in one of the best cities in the country.
These are qualities not many teams can claim.
