Over the last few weeks, talk around town has focused on who will fill the LA Clippers’ open two-way spots. Players like Yuki Kawamura or Cam Christie could return to the team and fill those roles, or the organization could go with a familiar face in Jahmyl Telfort, who was the odd man out around this time before the 2025-26 regular season.

While both options might be great, the best move is to address the Clippers’ center depth by signing Trey Jemison, an interior scoring/rebounding machine who was just waived by the Toronto Raptors, to a two-way contract. Currently, the only five-men on the roster are Brook Lopez, Isaiah Jackson, and Yanic Konan Niderhauser. However, with Niederhauser still recovering for the foreseeable future, adding Jemison is literally perfect.

Trey Jemison is the perfect center option the Clippers should look to for the open two-way spot

Right now, the LA Clippers have competent centers on the roster, yet rebounding is a massive issue. It wouldn’t be if Yanic Konan Niederhauser were healthy, but with him still working his way back from a severe foot injury, the Clippers need help, since boxing out and crashing the glass aren’t strengths for Brook Lopez or Isaiah Jackson.

This is one of the main reasons they should look to bring Trey Jemison into the open two-way spot.

Granted, he doesn’t have much experience playing legitimate minutes, but he did in Memphis in 2023-24.

In fact, Jemison averaged 24.9 minutes in 23 contests, with 7.4 points and 5.8 rebounds, shooting 55.1% from the field. He also averaged 1.2 blocks, which is impressive when you consider everything.

Additionally, Jemison is not only young at 26, but he also brings valuable experience. He is already a journeyman, having played for teams like the Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks, and Toronto Raptors.

With the Clippers, Jemison has everything you want in a depth piece.

When head coach Tyronn Lue needs a stronger presence in the paint that neither Jackson nor Lopez can provide, he can call Jemison’s number to fill in wherever help is needed most. If not, the former UAB Blazer will encourage his teammates from the sidelines or play for the San Diego Clippers, the G League affiliate.

And who knows, if he works out, the Clippers could keep him long-term. After all, they are currently in a youth movement, and Jemison fits just that.
