In the LA Clippers’ offseason plans, a list of priorities includes building a championship-level roster at the top and everything else under it. That aligns perfectly with keeping Kawhi Leonard around for his last year on the books, then targeting Anthony Davis, a two-way superstar who has a “good chance” of being moved by the start of next season.

Chris B. Haynes made the report on the ‘SiriusXM NBA Radio,’ and it’s worth keeping in mind that he, as a source, has a great relationship with Davis, as well as the veteran’s agent, Rich Paul.

This means that, if speculation is driven by Haynes regarding Davis, there’s a ton of value to it.

That said, the Clippers should take note and plan their summer, starting with one of the best stars on the market joining Leonard for a year of dominance to compete for the promised land.

The LA Clippers need to make an aggressive pursuit at Anthony Davis

The concerning aspect about Anthony Davis is, and has always been, his injury history. He didn’t even suit up once for the Washington Wizards following a blockbuster trade from the Dallas Mavericks at the deadline, and even before that, he only played 20 games.

However, Davis is an inexpensive trade target who would, one, keep Kawhi Leonard happy, and two, push the Clippers closer than they’ve ever been to winning the NBA Finals.

On that note, the Wizards, who are headed in a direction of youth, would likely not ask much from the Clippers for Davis. It could very well cost only Bogdan Bogdanovic, Brook Lopez, Nicolas Batum, and John Collins (sign-and-trade) for the 10-time All-Star.

That surely sounds like music to the ears of many, and with Davis, the hope will be that one of the league's best medical staffs will help him get back to the level of health he was at just a few seasons ago.

It won’t be easy, but the fact that Davis played 76 games for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023-24, and averaged 24.7 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.2 blocks, shooting 51.6% from the field, leaves extensive amounts of optimism on the table.

At the end of the day, though it’s fair to be worried about Davis’ availability, just imagine a world where he, Leonard, and Darius Garland remain on the court, together, for just one season.

The possibilities of what they could accomplish are endless.
