According to a report from MassLive's Brian Robb, one potential destination for Celtics guard Jrue Holiday this summer could be the LA Clippers. If the Clippers were to complete a deal with Boston to acquire Holiday, they would fulfill what's undoubtedly a dream for many players in the association: Playing for their hometown team.

That's right, if you weren't aware before you are now: Jrue Holiday hails from Los Angeles. Specifically, the North Hollywood region of the San Fernando Valley. It was there that he was a four-year varsity letterman at Campbell Hall School, an Episcopal school located in Studio City.

After winning three state titles in high school, Holiday of course went on to play at UCLA. He started in all 35 games for the Bruins during the 2008-09 season before being selected with the 17th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Since then, he's built out one of the most long and prosperous professional careers of anyone from his draft class. After he helped the Milwaukee Bucks win a championship in 2021, the perception around him as a winning player seemed to grow significantly, and that only increased after his second championship with the Celtics in 2024.

So, this all of course begs the question: Would Holiday be what the doctor ordered for the Clippers in this offseason? If you want my take on the matter, I would actually say he's not quite what the team needs at the moment. Still a talented and valuable player, sure, but perhaps not exactly the solution for LA.

If you watched the Clippers in 2024-25, you saw how incredible they were on the defensive side of things. Frankly, they don't really need another all-defense caliber player. Would it be nice? Certainly, but I wouldn't say it's the top priority at this point in time.

It seems pretty evident that LA has more work to do in terms of improving the roster from the offensive side of the basketball. This past season, Holiday's shooting numbers decreased and he wasn't quite as effective as he has been in years past from a scoring standpoint.

With that in mind, Jrue Holiday should probably not be at or near the top of the Clippers' offseason wish list. Seeing him don a Clippers uniform would be a nice story and a feel-good one, but perhaps not one that gets LA significantly closer to winning a championship.
