Amid a conversation with 'Andscape,' LA Clippers’ star and soon-to-be NBA Hall-of-Fame, Chris Paul, opened up a bit more than ever on retirement. This was all shared by Marc J. Spears, one of the sport’s best writers, and within the article, Paul mentioned how much the game means to him, and that he is still unaware of where he will be next year, spending time growing with his kids or in the gym prepping for year 22.

Furthermore, Paul deserves a championship for everything he has been through and for how much he is still willing to give to the Clippers’ organization and their fans. He changed the trajectory of the franchise forever, and even in a second stint that most did not envision would come true, the 12-time All-Star wants to win a championship for the most loyal fans in the league.

That said, head coach Tyronn Lue needs a guy like Paul, and to help him solidify his answer, which everyone hopes pertains to keep playing, the Clippers must put their fan favorite in a position to make his decision easy by winning the NBA Finals.

An NBA Finals win could lead to more than another season for Chris Paul

Each game that passes, the LA Clippers have the chance to write a new story. But over time, narratives inevitably develop, and the Clippers need theirs to rest in the realm of championship contention to convince Chris Paul to delay retirement a bit longer.

Furthermore, with a ring on his finger and the Clippers at the top of the world, Paul will be in one mindset only: if he can do it once, he can do it again. Thus, LA’s all-time assist leader will eventually realize that a decision on retirement will be the easiest he has ever made once he feels the joy of sealing the deal in the NBA Finals.

However, the franchise will feel inclined to honor Paul once he retires by having his name in the rafters and even the first player statue outside the Intuit Dome. This would be a generational memory for every fan worldwide.

Nonetheless, the Clippers are off to a solid start to the year, and so is Paul, averaging nearly five assists per game off the bench, but much more work needs to be done to beat teams like the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder, both undefeated at 4-0.
