Out of nowhere, it was reported that Jordan Miller, a heavy contributor on Tyronn Lue’s bench who was just paid during the offseason, suffered a torn rotator cuff during a workout and underwent successful surgery. He’ll reportedly be reevaluated in six months, which keeps him on the sidelines through the All-Star break.

This is a huge blow for an LA Clippers squad that needed his savvy scoring, playmaking, and overall impact. To make matters worse, the Clippers lost Bennedict Mathurin to the New Orleans Pelicans on a two-year, $16 million offer, leaving the second unit short of two key players.
Now, all of a sudden, the problem of the Clippers having a ton of talented guards turned into a great thing, as they’ll come in handy while Miller recovers, and even after he returns to the court.

Millions of fans all over the world of the LA Clippers were extremely excited about what Jordan Miller was going to produce in the first regular season after being paid a three-year, $15.3 million deal.
Before being rewarded, Miller put together an undeniably strong campaign the Clippers’ front office had no choice but to take note of. There was no way they were going to let go of Miller directly after he averaged 10.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 60 games for LA last season in just 22.1 minutes, shooting 53.1% from the field and 34.5% from beyond the arc.
Additionally, behind the numbers, Miller did a wonderful job stepping up when his number was called. Whether that meant getting buckets in a flashy fashion, being ready off the catch-and-shoot, or holding his ground on the defensive side of the ball, the 26-year-old did it all.
Heading into his fourth year in the league, Miller was widely expected to take his game to new heights, such as possibly leading the bench in scoring and becoming a spark the Clippers can consistently depend on when they need it.
Unfortunately, Miller will be out quite some time, and while he sits, the Clippers will truly miss his contributions on the bench.
Instead, players like Bradley Beal will have to step up, and though he is capable, there is a lot of skepticism about his abilities fresh off a brutal hip injury at this stage of his career.
It’s not like the Clippers have much of a choice, as Bennedict Mathurin has moved on to the next venture of his career.
