Ranking 3 possible starting lineups for the Clippers this season
2. The most athletic starting five in the NBA
Athleticism and youth were two of the biggest needs for the LA Clippers during the offseason. With training camp not too far away, it is fair to say these holes have been filled. In fact, the front office only needed one move to make it happen.
The addition of Kenyon Martin Jr. gives the LA Clippers a ridiculous amount of upside. He is young, athletic, and is working hard to improve his three-point jumper. Now, he will have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. This mentorship will hopefully turn him into an all-star talent in the near future.
Furthermore, Martin Jr. will occupy the center position when the LA Clippers decide to go small-ball. He should have no problem fighting on the glass, as he is arguably the most athletic player in the league. Not to mention he will be lethal offensively in the pick-and-roll and as a lob threat.
Moreover, Leonard and George will take the small forward and power forward positions in this starting lineup. There will likely not be a case where these two aren’t starting, as they are not only superstars but experienced veterans who know how to get the job done.
However, The shooting guard is Terance Mann, a player who deserved more minutes last season. He is getting better and better every season, and he is a force on the glass. Mann utilizes his athletic abilities to hold his own on offense while blocking shots and defending the perimeter.
Lastly, Westbrook swoops up the point guard position. Even at age 34, he is still one of the most athletic guards in the league. This allows him to finish at a high level while also making plays in traffic and hustling for loose balls.
