Develop: KJ Martin

In an attempt to add some established depth on the wing, the LA Clippers decided to take a flier on KJ Martin, an intriguing prospect that the Rockets were willing to move on from with their surplus of young talent already on the roster.

You’d have to imagine that Martin is going to play a key role for the Clippers this season. He’s going to be one of the primary backups behind Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, and he’s already shown the potential to be a really good player during his time in Houston. Heading into the season, the question for Martin is not whether he can be a contributor for LA. It’s more about how impactful of a contributor he can be for the Clippers.

That said, there’s still a decision that needs to be made about his future with the Clippers. Martin just has one year remaining on his contract and that’s part of the reason why Houston elected to trade him. He wasn’t viewed as a key part of their future. The question for the Clippers is whether Martin can be a key part of the Clippers’ build.
