Laying out the LA Clippers trade for DeMar DeRozan

The Bulls traded two bench players, one first-round pick, and two second-round selections to get DeRozan from the Spurs in 2021. All he has done since is make two All-Star appearances, while averaging 26.2 points, 5.0 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.0 steal in 36.2 minutes per over his 150 games played.

He could be the perfect third star for the Clippers. DeRozan can carry the team when Kawhi and PG miss time, but his versatile skill set meshes well with the two superstars when healthy.

What would LA have to give up to land the Bulls’ wing? Expect them to put together a package of role players and draft capital to make the trade work. Here is Bleacher Report’s proposed deal.

Chicago would likely ask for more, especially after they re-signed Nikola Vucevic this summer. The Bulls want to contend and turning DeRozan into three role players and one first-round pick is just not enough. If the Clippers added a couple of second-rounders, the Bulls might be more willing as they recouped the value that they paid two years ago.

If Chicago believes in Powell and Covington, they may take this chance, but it would likely be part of a series of moves to take a step back. The Bulls have struggled to make the playoffs, so a rebuild is not out of the question.

If they get on board, should the LA Clippers make this deal?
