2. The LA Clippers trade Kawhi Leonard to Atlanta.
Although the Atlanta Hawks have a great future, they may be looking to trade for Kawhi Leonard from the LA Clippers. Two components the Hawks need help with are defense and consistency. Leonard instantly solves these problems as he belongs in the upper echelon of the NBA.
Furthermore, the LA Clippers are looking to attain a younger roster while still being able to compete for a championship. Throughout the 2022-23 season, it became clear that head coach Tyronn Lue’s game plan could not reach its potential due to the team’s age.
That said, in a trade with the Hawks, the Clippers will add one of the best-rising superstars in the NBA, Trae Young, along with a two-way threat in John Collins. While this may seem like a package out of reach, LA will give away Leonard, as well as Terance Mann and Marcus Morris Sr.
For the LA Clippers, they will have Young to pair up with Paul George, as well as several other elite role players. Not to mention having Collins in the post will immediately raise the team’s ceiling. The aftermath of this trade will allow the Clippers to do some damage in the postseason while also maintaining their health.
Conversely, the Hawks receive Leonard and add two elite role players. Mann could potentially see an all-star season with the Hawks, as they have a smaller market with more opportunity. As for Morris Sr., he will be given another chance to regain his confidence before his contract expires.
This trade will be, without a doubt, one of the best in franchise history.
